Essentials that would make your time at Horakuan easier:
-
Outdoor shoes you can easily slip on and off (you are expected to remove your shoes in some restaurants, some museums, some shops, temples, etc.)
-
Indoor shoes/slippers you can easily slip on and off to wear at Horakuan. You take off your outdoor shoes every time you enter. The floor can be cold so have some warm socks or easy and comfortable slip-on shoes/slippers for indoors.
-
Waterproof clothing – the rain can be sudden and heavy. Good to have 100% waterproof gear. Also a lightweight plastic poncho or thin waterproof jacket to carry on outings if you don’t expect rain – in case it comes!
-
Working clothes, including shoes, that can get muddy and dirty and are easy to clean!
-
Sun protection cream + insect repellant cream
- A flashlight
-
A small backpack will be very useful if you plan to travel around Suzaka.
-
Driving license/international license if you have one.
-
A good camera, you’ll take lots of photos.
